Shift Arm Replacement (cont'd)
5. Bend the tab of the lock washer (A), then remove
the bolt (B).

6. Remove the interlock bolt (C).
7. Remove the shift lever shaft (A), shift arm (B), and
interlock (C).
(P/N 0 8 7 9 8 - 9 0 0 2 )
8. Install the shift arm assembly in the reverse order
of removal, and note these items.
• During reassembly, grease all sliding parts.
• Use only Super High Temp Urea Grease (P/N
08798-9002).
• Apply liquid gasket (P/N 08718-0001) to the
interlock bolt threads before reassembly.
• Turn the shift lever boot so the hole is facing
down.
• Use liquid gasket (P/N 08718-0001).
• Remove the dirty oil from the sealing surface.
• Seal the entire circumference of the bolt holes to
prevent oil leakage.
• If 20 minutes have passed after applying liquid
gasket, reapply it and assemble the housings.
Allow it to cure at least 20 minutes after
assembly before filling the transmission with oil.
