Rocker Arms and Shafts Inspection
1. Measure the diameter of the shaft at the first rocker
location.
2. Zero the gauge (A) to the shaft diameter.
3. Measure the inside diameter of the rocker a r m , and
check it for an out-of-round condition.
Rocker Arm-to-Shaft Clearance:
Standard (New):
Intake:
0.026-0.067 m m
(0.0010-0.0026 in.)
Exhaust:
0 . 0 1 8 - 0 . 0 5 4 m m

0.0021 in.)
Service Limit:
0.08 mm (0.003 in.)

4. Repeat for ail rockers and both shafts. If the
clearance is over the limit, replace the rocker shaft
and all overtolerance rocker arms. If any VTEC
intake rocker arm needs replacement, replace all
three rocker arms in that set (primary, m i d , and
secondary).
