Coolant Temperature Gauge Test
'98-99 models:
1. Check the No. 9 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-
dash fuse/relay box before testing.
2. Make sure the ignition switch is OFF, then
disconnect the YEL/GRN wire (A) f r o m the coolant
temperature gauge sending unit (B), and ground it
w i t h a j u m p e r w i r e .

3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Check that the pointer of the coolant temperature
gauge starts m o v i n g t o w a r d the " H " mark. Turn the
ignition switch OFF before the pointer reaches " H "
on the gauge dial. Failure t o do so m a y damage the
gauge.
• If the pointer of the gauge does not move at all,
check for an open in the YEL/GRN wire.
If the wires are OK, replace the coolant
temperature gauge.
• If the coolant temperature gauge w o r k s , test the
coolant temperature sending unit.
'00-02 models:
Coolant Temperature Gauge Needle Does Not Move at
All
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and connect ECM/
PCM connector terminal C24 to body ground w i t h a
j u m p e r w i r e .

2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
After 30 seconds
or more, does the
temperature
gauge needle move to the Hot side ?
Y E S - S u b s t i t u t e a known-good ECM/PCM and
recheck (see page 11-5).If the symptom/indication
goes away, replace the original ECM/PCM.
I M O - G o t o step 3.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and disconnect ECM/
PCM connector C (31P).
