    3. Installation Keypads Programming Keypads Before connecting the keypad(s) to the system, the engineer must program an identification number into the NVM chip on each keypad. Each keypad in a system must have a different address number to ensure that the end station can correctly identify them.

  • Page 21: Wiring Fsl Zones

    3. Installation Wiring FSL zones Each FSL zone uses a two wire closed loop, with two resistors of different values to differentiate between a ‘Circuit’ and ‘Tamper’ signals. A 2K2 (2.2Ký) resistor is fitted in series at the end of the wired loop (EOL-End-Of- Line) and a 4K7 (4.7Ký) resistor fitted across the alarm contact.

00:PROG SYSTEM You have now reached the Installer programming mode. Finding Menu Items The 808 programming is divided into sets of numbered menus. Each menu starts with a two digit number. The menus are grouped together into the following categories:...
  • Page 32: Changing Menu Items

    4. Programming Changing Menu Items After selecting a menu, press Enter to see further options belonging to that menu. The system usually displays an abbreviation for the name of the option, and the values the option currently has. A flashing character marks the part of the display that will change when you next press a key.

  • Page 38: Example 1: Full Set And Three Part Sets

    4. Programming Example 1: Full Set and Three Part Sets This subsection shows how to program the 808 as an alarm system with a full set Level, and three part set Levels. The diagram below shows an example site where this type of system may be used.
  • Page 39 Group the zones into Areas. Each Area is a set of detectors in the same physical area. The 808 can use up to four areas. Each area provides the smallest part of the alarm system that can be set. In the example, Area 1 is the ground floor of the house, Area 2 is the first floor, Area 3 is an external garage, and Area 4 is the office.
  • Page 40 Use Menu 65 to select the Reset type (customer, Installer, Anticode or RedCare). See the 808 User Guide for instructions on how to set up user information. Figure 21 shows in table form how the system should be configured for the example.

    4. Programming Example 2: Zone Circuit Types If you wish to change between 2-wire FSL zones, or 4-wire closed circuit (CC) zones then you must use Menu 21 to select either FSL or CC zones. The system cannot use a mix of FSL or CC, all zones must be of the same circuit type.

  • Page 45: Example 4: Zone Omission

    4. Programming Example 4: Zone Omission You can program the system to allow users to omit zones during setting. This facility is designed to allow users to omit zones that need to work normally for most of the time, but may occasionally need by-passing. For example, an internal door normally protected by a NA zone may need to be left open due to repair.
  • Page 46: User Facilities

    4. Programming User Facilities In User Mode the 808 can store unique access codes for up to eight users. Each user can be linked to one or more Levels. There are two types of user: • The Supervisor (User 01), who can change all other user's access to the system.
  • Page 47: Installer Setting

    4. Programming Users can reprogram limited parts of the system. The 808 provides the following set of user menus: Menu 2 Omit 24 hour zones Menu 3 System Options, Enable/Disable Chime. Menu 4 Test Options, including Walk Test and Bell Test.

  • Page 50: 32-Zone Options

    5. Programming Reference 32-ZONE OPTIONS Use this menu to set zone types, assign zones to Areas, and set zone attributes Menu 32 - Zone Types Except where noted, you can assign zone types to any or all Areas. (Not Used) The system ignores Zones with this type. (Fire) Smoke or heat detectors connected to FR type zones cause internal audible warning devices to give a distinctive fire signal (internal sounders pulsing "Dee Dah Dee Dah...").
  • Page 51: Menu 32 - Allocating Zones To Areas

    5. Programming Reference (Entry Route) Use this zone type for detectors sited between the Final Exit door/detector and a Level keypad. If an ‘Entry Route’ zone is violated when an area is set, an alarm will occur. If the entry/exit timer is running when an Entry Route zone is violated then no alarm occurs.
  • Page 52: 41-Level Allocate

    5. Programming Reference (Test) Zones with this attribute are disabled for a 14 day period. If the zone is opened during this time then the system logs the event as a "SOAKFAIL" without sounding any bells or starting signalling. The system also displays a "SOAKFAIL"...
  • Page 53: 43-Level Ent Time

If the lock contacts are not closed before the final door is opened on entry to the system, then an immediate alarm will occur. Scantronic recommend that you fit only one lock to the system. Notes: a) The lock must be connected to a keypad allocated to the Level you are programming.
  • Page 54: 45-Level Alm Rsp

    5. Programming Reference 45-LEVEL ALM RSP You can program each Level to give its own Alarm Response. The responses available are: LA-AR FU (Full) External Sounders (OP1 - timed, all other outputs as pro- grammed). Internal Sounders (Loudspeaker audible output). Remote Signalling if plug-on communicator fitted and commu- nications programmed.
  • Page 55 5. Programming Reference BELL This output type is always assigned to the Bell O/P but can also be assigned to Strobe and OP 1. The output can be programmed as either normally energised or de-energised. In the event of an alarm condition from a Level the output will operate.
  • Page 56: 52-Prog Sounders

    5. Programming Reference Partition is set and will deactivate when all Partitions are unset or an alarm condition occurs. The output will also activate for 1.0 seconds when a reset is performed. SHCK (Shock Reset) This output is used to reset shock sensors, (for example the ‘Viper’).
  • Page 57: B D Alws

    5. Programming Reference B D ALWS When the system is set and (for example) an intruder violates a zone, then the system waits for the programmed Bell Delay before sounding the Bell. The system then sounds the bell for the programmed Bell Time. If someone enters through the entry route during the Bell Delay the system does not give entry tones.
  • Page 58: 64-Allow Z Omis

    5. Programming Reference LFAUDIBL If all Levels are unset the system produces an audible tone and logs the event. The keypad display shows a flashing message, for example: "CALL ENGINEER - TEL LINE FAULT". Entering a valid access code silences the sounders. The Levels may be set again with the line fault present.
  • Page 59: 66-Print Options

    5. Programming Reference Anticode ResetForces the user to contact a central station and report the circumstances of the alarm. If the central station decides that the call does not require engineer attention, they give a reset code to the user to reset the system. If engineer attention is required, the system will be reset by the engineer on-site.
  • Page 60 5. Programming Reference When an alarm occurs, the system starts the Alarm Abort timer. If a user enters their access code to disarm the Parti- tion in alarm during the Alarm Abort time window then the system deactivates channel 3 and sends a separate code abort signal on channel 5.
  • Page 61 5. Programming Reference If ‘Entry Abort’ is enabled the system adds 90 seconds to the entry time. Providing the user enters a valid access code within the additional 90 seconds, the system disarm. Any plug-on communicator transmits a ‘Restore’ signal, avoiding police action.
  • Page 62: Testing

    6. Testing When you have completed programming the system, there are a number of Menu options to help you test the operation of the system and check that the installation has been installed to the specification. You can select these Menu options with the end station lid open. However, before performing any functional tests, make sure that all zone wiring is completed, all anti-tamper devices (except the panel lid tamper) are closed and all outputs, auxiliary power and battery connections are made.
  • Page 63: Walk Test

    6. Testing Walk Test Note: If a zone is already violated, you must close it before carrying out the walk test. The display shows the first available loops to be tested (Zone and Tamper). For example: 06TOTEST 01T01 > Open and close the alarm and tamper circuits for each zone. The zone and tamper numbers disappear from the display as you test each circuit, and the internal sounder gives a chime.
