NAME
dltest – run diagnostic tests on a DAT-Link interface.
SYNOPSIS
dltest [ –b ] [ –l ] [ –n ] [ –e ] [ –s ] [ –w ] [ –t ] [ –u unit ] [ –D device ]
DESCRIPTION
dltest performs a number of diagnostic tests of a DAT-Link interface. With no options, all tests are
run. Selecting certain options instructs dltest to run only those tests. See the description of each
o ption for details of the particular tests.
OPTIONS
–b Run the buffer read/write test. This test writes some data into the DAT-Link's internal buffer
and then reads it back, verifying it for consistency. This is a test of the SCSI I/O and of the
D AT-Link's internal dynamic memory. It does not transfer any data to or from the digital
audio I/O connectors.
– s SCSI I/O speed test. This checks and reports on transfer speeds for SCSI I/O to and from the
DAT-Link. Peak transfer speed is calculated by measuring transfer times for various transfe
s izes. The overhead time reported is the extra time required by the host and/or DAT-Link for
each transfer.
– t Display the number of seconds since the DAT-Link was powered-up.
–w DSP read/write test. This test writes data into the DAT-Link's digital signal processor, the
reads it back and verifies it. This can also be used to display the addresses of memory avail-
able to the DAT-Link's DSP32C.
– l Test front panel LED's. Turns all LED's on for 2 seconds then off.
–e Retrieve the DAT-Link's internal firmware error log.
– n Use the DAT-Link's currently running firmware rather than loading the latest firmware as
needed. If an incompatible version of the firmware is currently loaded, this may result in sub
s equent errors during communications with the DAT-Link.
–u unit Specify the DAT-Link unit to use. Default is 0 or the value of the environment variabl
if it is set.

Specify the device file to open to access the DAT-Link. The default is /dev/datlinknn where
nn is the DAT-Link unit number.
NOTES
None of these tests exercise the digital input/outputs of the DAT-Link. Use looptest(8) to test these
and perform a complete end-to-end test. Remote control capabilities can be tested using the loop-back
o ption of rctrain(1)

NOTES
If the NetAudio server ( netaudiod(8)) is running, dltest will temporarily suspend it's operations so that
dltest can access the DAT-Link directly. When dltest completes, the server will resume. As a side
e ffect of these operations, the server will be reset to its startup state and transfers in progress will be
