11.3 Hardware
DAT-Link
The
+ can be used with external hardware connected via its DSP-Port
as described in Section C.1. This includes most hardware that is designed to work
with the NeXT DSP-Port or with the DSP-Port found on Ariel Corp's digital signal
processing boards. For most external hardware, the user must provide their own
DSP32C programs that are able to communicate with the equipment. The

+ does, however, include support for two speci c devices: Ariel's ProPort
Model 656, and TEAC's line of multichannel data DAT recorders.

11.3.1 Ariel Corp's ProPort

DAT-Link
The
+ can be used with Ariel's ProPort Model 656 to provide A/D and
D/A conversion without using a DAT machine. The ProPort features:
Two input channels with 16-bit oversampling sigma-delta analog to digital

conversion and tracking digital anti-aliasing lters.
Two output channels with 8x oversampling, 20-bit digital to analog conversion.

Two AC-coupled, balanced, di erential microphone inputs on professional

XLR connectors.
Switchable 28-volt phantom microphone power.

Two AC-coupled
balanced di erential line-level inputs on 3-conductor phone

jacks.
Front panel gain with 40 dB range on both input channels.

Presence of signal and overload LED indicators for both input channels.

Seven selectable sample rates.

Two active-balanced, line-level, analog outputs on 3-conductor phone jacks.
