PERIODIC
MAINTENANCE
AND TUNE-UP PROCEDURES
RADIATOR
HOSE
Inspect 1 000 km, 12000 km
,
24000
km
(6
000
mites, 7 500 miles, 15 000 miles)
Replace every 4 years
Inspect
for
lea
kage
from the radiator hose itself
and
for
kinks in the
radiator
hose.
If
any leakage from
the radiator
hose are detect-
ed, the radiator
hose should
be replaced.
COOLANT
Change every 2 years,
Remove
the middle and lower cowling (Refer to
page
7-21
• R,emove
the
radiator
cap.
WARNING:
Do not open the radiator cap when the engine
is hot, as
you
may be injured by escape in
hot liquid
or
vapor.
Loosen
the water drain
plug
at the water
pump
cover and drain the cooling system
thoroughly
while holding
the
motorcycle
upright.
WARNING:
Cooling solution may
be
harmful if swallowed
or
if it
comes in contact
with
skin or eyes.
Contact your physician
immediately.
If
swallowed induce
vomiting.
If
cooling solu-
tion gets into the eyes or in contact
with the
skin, it should be flushed
thoroughly
w
ith
plenty of water.
Disconnect the
hose
from the reservoir
tank
and drain
the
cooling solution in
the
reservoir
ta nk.
Connect
the
hose
to the
reservoir
and replace
the water
drain
plug.
Fill the radiator
up to the
radiator
inlet hole
neck
with
the
coolant.
Close the radiator cap securely.
Fill the reservoir
tank up to the
" FULL"
line
with the coolant.
NOTE:
About 1 500 ml
of coolant
may
be
needed
when
the radiator
and
reservoir
tank.
