2. Fill the crankcase with the proper quantity and
grade of oil. Refer to the proper Truck Service
Manual or O w ner's and D river's Manual for this
inform ation. Fill the cooling system with the proper
coolant.
3. W ith the ignition " O F F " or disconnected, crank the
engine several times. Listen for any unusual noises
or evidence that any parts are binding.
4. Start the engine and listen for unusual noises. Run
the engine at about 1000 rpm until the engine is at
operating tem perature.
5. Listen for im properly adjusted valves or sticking
lifters, or other unusual noises.
6. Check for oil and coolant leaks while the engine is
running.
7. Using the proper Truck Service Manual or Emission
Control Label for specifications, adjust the ignition
tim ing and idle rpm.
