• A pply engine oil to the connecting rod bearing
inserts (55) and crankshaft journal.
1. Connecting rod cap (116) with the lower connecting
rod bearing insert (55).
2. Nuts (56).
T ig h te n
• Nuts (56) to 44 N m (32 ft. lbs.).
M easu re (F ig u re 50)
C onnecting rod side clearance. Use a feeler gage
between the connecting rod and the crankshaft. The
c o rr e c t c le a r a n c e
(0.006-0.022-inch).

OIL PUMP INSTALLATION
Install or C o n n ect (F ig u re 5)
Oil pump.
• Align the oil pump shaft with the tang on the
oil pump driveshaft.
• P osition th e oil pum p over the oil pum p
driveshaft lower bushing. No gasket is used.
The oil pum p should slide easily into place.
