Transparent Mode
A common application, in conjunction with handheld readers, is one that
Usage:
employs an auxiliary readout to detect mis-applied symbols.
In Transparent mode data is passed between the auxiliary port and the
host. The reader buffers data from the auxiliary port and echoes the keyed
data on the auxiliary port.
• Auxiliary port data is passed through to the host
whenever a return key is pressed at the auxiliary
port or whenever symbol data is sent. If sent with
symbol data, it is processed on a first-in/first-out
basis.
• Auxiliary port data to the host is always sent with
a preamble and a postamble.
• If the reader is in a polled mode to the host, auxil-
iary port data will still pass through.
• <D> is the only command accepted by the reader from the auxiliary port.
All other commands will pass through to the host.
Data initiated from the Reader
Definition:
• Transmission to the auxiliary port occurs immedi-
ately upon a good read.
• Data sent to the auxiliary port does not include a
preamble or a postamble.
• Communications with the auxiliary port is always
in Point-to-Point protocol, even if the host is in a
polled protocol mode.
Data initiated from the Host
• All host data is echoed to the auxiliary port in
unpolled mode.
