MAINTENANCE
Turn the engine off, place the motorcycle on its
center stand and shift the transmission into neutral.
Check slack in the drive chain lower run midway be-
tween the sprockets.
SLACK: 15-25 mm (5/8-1 in)
CAUTION
Excessive chain slack, 50 mm (2 in) or more,
may damage the frame.
Adjust as follows:
Loosen the axle nut.
Loosen the adjusting bolt lock nuts.
Turn both adjusting bolts an equal number of turns
until the correct drive chain slack is obtained.
CAUTION
Make sure that the same alignment marks on
both adjuster align with the edge of the
swingarm.
Tighten the adjusting bolt lock nuts.
Tighten the rear axle nut.
TORQUE: 70-90 N'm (7.0-9.0 kg-m, 51-65 ft-Ib)
Recheck chain slack and free wheel rotation.
Lubricate the drive chain with SAE 80 or 90 gear
oil.
Check the chain wear label. If the red zone on the
label and the index mark on the adjuster align or
overlap after adjustment, the chain must be re-
placed.
REPLACEMENT CHAIN: D.I.D 50V3 or RK50FO
