"New York Branch, New York, N.Y." Throe pholos of"these units arc shown in the "Cadillac LaSalle Commercial Cars" brochure for 1938,
produced by the Cadillac and LaSalle Commercial Division. Two pholos show two units with dual sidemounts and the lops down, wear-
ing 1937 New York license plates. The third photo shows three units, two with sidemounts, all with the tops up and no license plates. The
three-car photo clearly shows an extension lo the standard running boards, indicating a chassis extension. Based on die known run-
ning board length of 59" for a 1937 Coupe, the chassis extension scales out to be 21 ", or a wheel base of 145". flower car serial mini-
%ers are 2242020 (body 355), 2242025 (body 354), 2243973 (body 406), 2244128 (body 405) and 2255672 (body 875).
4. Commercial Chassis: The commercial chassis and engines are numbered the same as the automobiles, in the sequence in which they
came down the assembly line. Thus commercial chassis 2B-25537 with engine #2255537 comes after the style 5027 Coupe with chassis
2B-25536, engine #2255536. Some commercial chassis sheets indicate "closed cowl," others state "cowl, instruments and wiring shipped
separate." No chassis indicated open cowl. Commercial chassis were shipped to:

5. All models of the standard production cars were exported outside of the U.S./Canada. Numerous cars were sent to the Oshawa branch.
6. As with other years, none of the body styles were built in a straight body order sequence. S.B.O. (Special Body Order) cars were
generally substantially out of order with a notation "engine no. 224-—reserved."

7. Export Chassis: G M Holden Division in Australia received a total of 64 right hand drive chassis for 5019 Sedans. Chassis were shipped
to Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
8. Domestic Chassis: A single 124" W.B. chassis, serial 2233393, with a closed car cowl, fender set with R H fenderwell and metal cover
in primer was shipped to the Brown and Thomas Auto Co., New Haven, Connecticut.
9. Completelv-Knocked-Down ( C K D ) Exports: It is not clear whether all of the chassis exported (other than to Australia) were complete
boxed kits to assemble cars or whether some units sent to Antwerp and Japan were, in fact, chassis only. They are thought to be C K D and
listed as such.

Note: These cars did not have body numbers assigned and are, therefore, not included in the domestic production numbers (e.g., 995 U.S.
assembled Convertible Coupes).
Most of the C K D units were shipped in increments of 12. The discrepancy of 12 vehicles between known total production of 32,005 and
the 31,993 accounted for in the production table is likely to be a missing C K D export record sheet.
