For detailed instructions on downloading software using RAS, refer to the
Guide. The following procedure is a general overview to download HRDV software using
RAS:
1.
Download the HRDV16/8 Software to the PC you intend to use to connect to the
HRDV unit for upgrading.
2.
Unzip the downloaded HRDV16/8 firmware file (for example,
HRDV16_firmware_120g.zip). This extracts a file (16il_20g.bin) for sending to the
HRDV unit.
3.
Open RAS, connect to the HRDV unit and stop recording.
4.
From the Action menu, select Download HRDV8/HRDV16 Software (selection may
change depending on the HRDV model number).
5.
Find and select the binary upgrade file (16il_xxg.bin, for example), and click OK.
6.
After the download is complete, you are prompted to reboot the HRDV recorder. Click
OK. RAS automatically disconnects. Close RAS.

If you notice that the software download is taking a long time (more than 20 minutes), you
may want to check your Windows communications port setting:
1.
From your desktop, double-click the following icons in sequence: My Computer

Control Panel
Ports. A list of the ports installed on your computer displays.
2.
Highlight the port you are using for the SUU and click Settings. The Settings window
for this communications port displays.
