14.12 Troubleshooting - Prepare for removal

Before you remove a component, the DS Storage Manager software checks to see if another
component should be serviced first. If you can safely remove the component, the Service
Action Allowed (SAA) LED on the component comes on. The types of components that can
be prepared for removal are:
DS controllers
Drives
DS storage enclosure and expansion enclosure power supplies
Expansion enclosure ESMs
Attention: Use this option only when instructed to do so by the Recovery Guru (see
section 14.13, "Recovery Guru - Recover from Failure" on page 419) or by your IBM
Customer Support representative. For CRUs that have an SAA LED, after the SAA LED
comes on, you cannot turn it off without removing the CRU.
1. To access the software tool, select the Advanced  Troubleshooting  Prepare for
removal menu command. The window shown in Figure 14-124 on page 419 will open.
