should be identical. It is required that the multipath I/O (MPIO) software and Device
Specific Module (DSM) software components be identical. It is recommended that the
mass-storage device controllers, that is the host bus adapter (HBA), HBA drivers, and
HBA firmware that are attached to cluster storage be identical.
3. Storage: You must use shared storage that is compatible with Windows Server 2008. For
a two-node failover cluster, the storage should contain at least two separate volumes
(LUNs), configured at the hardware level. One volume will function as the witness disk
(also known as Quorum drive). One volume will contain the files that are being shared to
users.

19.2 Preparing the environment

First, we perform some initial setup which includes
Infrastructure cabling and zoning
DS3500 basic configuration

19.2.1 SAN Zoning configuration

We set up four paths between the server and the storage system. Its also recommended that,
at least two HBA ports must be used and both HBA ports must see both controllers.
Refer to the below materials for more information about zoning:

DS3500 Storage configuration

19.2.2
Use the DS Storage Manager client to define the logical drive, host group, host, host type,
and host ports. Make sure that the host type defined matches the operating system you are
installing, in our example, Windows 2000/Server 2003/Server 2008 Clustered.
Follow these steps for the configuration:
1. Zone your Windows Server to your IBM DS3500 Storage Subsystem. Ensure that your
environment has sufficient paths and connections for redundancy and high availability.
2. We used the Logical tab in DS Subsystem Management window to create a sample logical
drives as Quorum(witness) and shared data disks
3. Define a host group by selecting the Mapping menu in Mapping tab as shown in
Figure 19-2 on page 574. Specify a name for the host group and follow the wizard
instructions to complete the task. In our example, we named our host group MSCluster.
