Figure 20-31 Temporary zoning configuration to boot from storage
Follow these steps to do the proper SAN zoning configuration in a Qlogic switch. This will
enable us to install a SuSE Linux Enterprise server in the Storage subsystem:
a. Log in to the Qlogic Switch and a window similar to Figure 20-32 on page 632 will be
displayed. The window shows that the blade server in slot 6 and the blade server in slot
11 are connected to the internal ports of the Qlogic switch. On the left, it is possible to
see the WWN that identifies each HBA host port. On the other hand, it also shows that
two ports of the storage that are connected to the external ports of the switch (port 5
and port 6).
We need to create a zone(BootZone) on this switch to include the WWN from the blade
in slot 6 (that is our server for this sample configuration) and one port of the storage
controller as indicated by the Red line in Figure 20-32 on page 632
