Manage Enclosure Alarm
As no DS3500 storage subsystem uses an acoustic alarm feature, this menu is always grayed
and cannot be used.
Rename Subsystem
When you add a new storage subsystem to your Storage Manager, it is identified as
"Unnamed". If you have several storage subsystems installed in your environment, you can
give each subsystem a meaningful name.
Select Storage Subsystem  Rename to change the name of subsystem (Figure 8-24).
Figure 8-24 Rename Subsystem
The subsystem name is immediately updated also in Enterprise Manger.
Note: It is important to know that renaming the storage subsystem can have influence on
some services, running outside the Storage Manger. For example, you can run some
customized SMcli scripts, where the subsystem is referenced by its name. Also some types
of multipath failover drivers on servers uses the name of attached subsystem. We
recommend to rename a new subsystem as soon as possible, when it is not in production
yet.
Set Password
Starting with Storage Manger version 10.70 a new strong password rules are valid and you
must have password set for all DS3500 managed subsystems. You must enter password
immediately when Subsystem Manager is started for given storage subsystem, even if you
want just to see current configuration. If you start Subsystem Manager for the first time, you
must set a new password. In previous versions, the password was only requested in case of
configuration changes like deleting objects, creating new Array, new Logical Volume, and the
rules for password were not so strong before.
Now, a strong password must meet the following requirements:
must be between 8 and 30 characters in length
must contain at least one number (0–9)
must contain at least one lowercase letter (a–z)
must contain at least one uppercase letter (A–Z)
must contain at least one non-alphanumeric character (!, @, #, $, etc.)
must not contain any spaces, including trailing spaces
Select Storage Subsystem  Set Password to define a new password. You must set the
current password and enter it twice in window like in Figure 8-25 on page 211.
