17.2 Running the CLI
There are two ways to enter commands into the DS3500: interactively, using SMcli, or by
creating saved scripts with the Scripting Editor. We describe SMcli in 17.3, "General SMcli
syntax" on page 538.
17.2.1 Script Editor
The Script Editor allows you to create and save files of commands from the CLI so you can
batch execute or schedule them.
Do these steps:
1. To start the Script Editor, from Storage Manager, select Tools Execute Script, as
shown in Figure 17-1.

2. A blank Script Editor appears, as shown in Figure 17-2. From here you can enter
commands and save them for later execution.

3. Select File Save Script and File Load Script to save and retrieve script files that
you create, respectively. The Tools menu includes options to verify the syntax and run the
scripts, as shown in Figure 17-3 on page 537.
