18.2.2
ANS Monitoring
The user can get the values read by an ANS sensor in an output zone. This can be useful, for example to
confirm that gain settings for the output are correct, and to confirm that an ANS sensor is working correctly.
It is recommended that a reading is taken and recorded after initial commissioning, when the correct output
gains are established using sound pressure level meters, and then use this reading as a reference for future
checks.
In order to read the current ANS readings proceed as follows.
1.
Select Tests Monitor ANS.
2.
Move to, and scroll the output list until the required output is displayed in the left field:
[OUTPUT 01]
Default value:
output 1 name
Outputs:
4 output for VAR4
12 output for VAR12
20 output for VAR20
Note: The output given above is the output 1 default name, however this may have been changed
according to each site's configuration.
3.
The ANS monitoring results (dB) are displayed:
Cur=0/0dB, Act=255 / 0, Idle=255 / 0
Where:
Cur =
the current reading from the ANS sensor / the current attenuation level.
Act =
the minimum / maximum readings from the ANS sensor, with an input routed to the output. It
measures the volume of an announcement.
Idle =
the minimum / maximum readings from the ANS sensor, with nothing routed to the output. It
measures the genuine ambient noise.
Note: Pressing the SELECT key clears the maximum and minimum readings, i.e. sets the minimum to
'255' (maximum measurable value) and sets the maximum to '0'.
4.
Make a test announcement.
5.
Observe the maximum and minimum readings.
6.
The system remains monitoring whilst within this menu and finishes when the menu times out or the
BACK is pressed.
