Configuring an Analogue Input as Volume Control
The application of the Volume Control function is to allow remote control of the volume of specific input
sources within a specific zone or zones. Normally the volume control will be mounted within the zone and
allow the control of the specific sources, typically music sources, within the zone, while leaving the volume of
all other sources unaffected.
As such it is possible to assign a particular Volume Control to be associated with one, or any group of, VAR
Router outputs.
That having been done it is then possible to assign which input, or group of inputs, are controlled.
•
Volume Controls provide 12 steps of attenuation. 33dB of control is provided from positions
'1' to '11' fixed at 3dB per step with '0' providing an 'off' position, i.e., the Volume Control
first position sets the volume of the associated output(s) to maximum.
•
In the event of a fault (connection failure to the Volume Control or RS485 communications
failure to the Remote I/O unit), the volume defaults to 'off'.
It is possible to configure more than one Volume Control for the same output, provided the

inputs they govern are unique.
In order to configure an analogue input as Volume Control proceed as follows.
