Setup Flow for SMB Printing

This equipment can be used with SMB printer connection that allows you to connect to this
equipment using File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks service. SMB printing is the
common method to setting up the printer from the Windows 98/Me computers. However, SMB
printing is not suitable for printing a large amount of documents.

It assumes using SMB printing in a small network. If you can use the Windows NT
4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003 as a print server, it is
recommended to set up for printing via Windows print server.

You should set the TCP/IP and HTTP Network Service from the Touch Panel Display the
first time you use it, to make Imagistics Printer Utility available. Please see the User Func-

The NetBIOS name and workgroup should be configured to enable SMB printing. Also if
the network system uses the WINS server to provide name resolution for this equipment
with the Windows network, you can specify the WINS server to be used.

Users can install the printer drivers for SMB printing using the following methods: 1) Point
and Print installation or 2) installation from the Client1 CD-ROM. It is recommended for an
administrator to determine which method should be used for an installation (or allows both
installations for users.) For more information about the SMB installation, please see the
Printing Guide.
In the SMB enabled network, users must install following client software for printing:
