Power Cords
Observe the following warnings when working with power cords.
WARNING: The system power in the ProLiant DL380 Generation 2 server does
not completely shut off with the front panel Power On/Standby button. The two
positions of the button function as on and standby modes. The standby position
removes power from most of the electronics and the drives, but portions of the
power supply and some internal circuitry remain active.
Consequently, to remove all power from the system, you must disconnect the
power cord from the server. In systems with multiple power supplies, you must
disconnect all the power cords to completely remove power from the system.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electrical shock or damage to the equipment:
I
Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an
important safety feature.
I
Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet that is
easily accessible at all times.
I
Do not route the power cord where it can be walked on or pinched by
items placed against it. Pay particular attention to the plug, electrical
outlet, and the point where the cord extends from the server.
