Diagnostics and Error Handling
Introduction
You use the chapter entitled "Diagnostics and Error Handling" to evaluate the
diagnosis of the DP/ASi link and to take the necessary action.
Diagnostic options
You have two diagnostic options which refer you to the location at which the
diagnostic information is stored.
Online Help
The COM ET 200 Windows configuration software has an integrated online
Help which enables you to activate context-sensitive Help. A description of
the error messages is therefore not necessary at this stage.
Diagnosing with
You can read the DP/ASi link diagnosis into your PLC using the IM308C
IM308C
module with function block IM308C (FB 192, FKT = SD).
You will find an in-depth description of FB IM308C and the diagnostic op-
tions in respect of the PROFIBUS-DP in the Distributed I/O System ET 200
manual.
Diagnosing with a
If you wish to operate the DP/ASi link as a DP slave with a SIMATIC
S7/M7 DP master
S7/M7 DP master, the DP/ASi link behaves like a central S7-300 module.
You read out the diagnosis (data records 0 and 1) using the SFC 13
"DPNRM_DG". You will find information on requesting diagnostic data in
the STEP 7 Standard and System Functions manual.

Diagnosis by means of LEDs gives you the opportunity to evaluate mes-
sages and to remedy any errors which have occurred.
The diagnostic message gives you the opportunity to react to fail-state
characteristics of the DP/ASi link by means of the user program of the
DP master or the higher level PLC.
