    3. INSTALLATION 3-1. Removing packing materials Remove the string which secures the power cable. Remove the tape which secures the cloth plate. Remove the string which secures the hose. 3-2. Securing the machine CAUTION To avoid possible personal injuries, be sure to move the machine to a level and stable place and lock casters 1 .

    3-3. Installing the dust collector If the dust collector is not securely in- stalled, blown-out dust or lint can get in eyes, resulting in personal injury. Plug the filings blowing hose 2 and the chan- off thread blowng hose 3 nto the dust collec- ton box 1 .

    3-4. Installing the stacker CAUTION Be sure to carry out installation of the stacker by two or more workers in order to protect against accidents caused by the stacker unit when it accidentally falls. Install the stacker unt on the base wth screws 1 and washers 2 (at two locatons each).

    3-9. Connecting the air coupler Connect the ar coupler 1 suppled wth the unt as an accessory firstly to air hose 2 , secondly to cou- pler 3 on the man body sde. Make sure that the pressure gauge of the regulator reads 0.5 MPa.

    3-11. Joining the sub-table (only for the long table type) CAUTION Connect the sub-table to the main-body table taking care not to allow your fingers caught between them. If the dfference n heght between the sub-table and the man-body table cannot be elmnated wth spacer 4 , adjust the heght of the man-body table (or the heght of the sub-table).

Connecting the power plug CAUTION To prevent possible accidents caused by leakage or dielectric strength, an appropriate power plug shall be installed by a person who has an expert knowledge of electricity. Be sure to connect the power plug to the receptacle that is well grounded. Connection of the power plug to the power depends on the specifications of the product.

    3-13. Installing the cloth receiving board (KM-5) (optional) Fx support rods 2 on cloth holdng table 1 wth wood screws 3 and washers 4 (at four locatons each). Fx the cloth holdng table mounted wth the support rods on the sub-table wth screws 5 . The cloth holding table can be adjusted to four different heights using the fixing holes in the support rod.

    3-14. Installing the 3-pedal unit (PK-79) (optional) Connect the connector of the pedal to the juncton connector comng from the control box. The figure shows differential feed switch 1 , pause swtch 2 and hgh-/low-speed changeover swtch 3 from left to rght. Dfferental feed As long as ths swtch s held depressed, the dfferental feed functon works.

    JUKI MACHINE OIL 18 should be used for lubrication. Remove ol cap 1 . Pour JUKI MACHINE OIL 8 nto the ol reser- vor. Supply ol untl the ponter bar almost reaches the upper red marker lne when ol gauge 2 s observed from the sde.

    4-3. Threading the machine ★ How to remove the cloth plate Remove the cloth plate by holdng the cloth plate gude base. Do not touch the curve sensor (optional) mounted on the cloth plate. To thread the machne head, remove the cloth plate n advance.

    4-6. Differential feed mechanism CAUTION : To protect against possible personal injury due to abrupt start of the machine, be sure to start the fol- lowing work after turning the power off and ascertaining that the motor is at rest. To carry out adjustment, remove the cloth plate in advance.

    5. OPERATION 5-1. Sewing procedure CAUTION : • Never start the machine with the eye protector cover raised in order to prevent injury accidents caused by the needle and the knife. • The machine becomes hot when it is running continuously or after it has run, never touch the sewing machine.
  • Page 23 Once the materal has come out of the sensor, the machne stops after several sttches. The stacker operates when the stacker selector swtch or stacker startng swtch 5 s depressed. • Do not place hands under the thread trimmer presser in order to protect against injury caused by trapping.
  • Page 24 When sewng s completed, make sure that the sewng machne has stopped. Then, press the OFF button 8 of the power swtch to turn OFF the power. Four dots (A) n the numeral ndcatng wndow momentarily light up as shown in the figure, showng that the state has moved to the power OFF state.

    5-2. Explanation of the operation panel switch : Used for determining the contents of setting. When this switch is pressed, flashing stops and the contents of setting are determined. The machne enters the sewng mode under whch t can start. When the materal to be sewn s already placed on the machne under the Automatc mode, E333 wll appear on the operaton panel.

    5-6. Other settings (1) Setting of the auto lifter function (optional) When the auto-lifter function is used, do not place your fingers under the presser foot. Stacker support board adjustment CAUTION : To avoid possible accidents because of abrupt start of the machine or the device, turn OFF the power to the machine, and expel air remaining in the machine by removing the pipe of the air supply before carrying out assembling or adjustment works.

Adjusting the sensors Once the cloth gude has been adjusted to 5mm poston, check to be sure that the numerc value on the main digital display shown on the amplifier is 3500 or more when no material is placed under the sensor unit, and that the numerc value on the man dgtal dsplay s 500 or less when the materal s placed under the sensor unt.

    Turn OFF the power before starting the work so as to prevent accidents caused by abrupt start of the sewing machine. Use JUKI MACHINE OIL 8 n the machne head. To change the oil, first drain the oil out by un- screwng screw 1 on the tp of the ol dran hose connected to the ol pan.
