    1 Introduction This chapter introduces the audit logs created by the HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console computer or SVP (Service Processor) on the storage system. The SVP is a computer that is contained within the storage system. Users can access the audit logs that are output by the SVP, but the SVP is accessible only by HP personnel.

    File” on page 36 for more information about the syslog information file. This file contains the audit log. You can download it to your Remote Web Console computer or to a primary or secondary syslog server. Download the Audit Log Information Files to the Remote Web Console Computer Only the storage administrator can download the audit log file, and the Audit Log Administrator Role needs to be set to Modify or View.
  • Page 25 Transferring the audit log information file could fail due to the failures of either the FTP server or LAN problems even though the configuration of the FTP server has finished. If the transfer fails, the Audit: Warning or the Audit: Wraparound button will remain displayed on the Remote Web Console main window.

    If you change the configuration in the Audit Log Transfer window (when the items set in the window appear in blue italic letters), click Apply and apply the configuration in the window to the storage system, and then click Transfer.   • Page 27 Select one of the following: • If using a primary syslog server: • Select Enable in Output to Primary Server. • Enter the IP Address in Primary Server Setting. Do not enter the periods. • Enter the Port Number in Primary Server Setting. You can enter a number from 1 to 65,535.
  • Page 28: Storing Audit Logs

    Confirm that the syslog server is receiving the log of syslog server setting when the setting operation is completed. AuditLog is the function name of the log and Set Syslog Server is the operation name (see “Set Syslog Server Operation” on page 64). If the log is not received by the syslog server, verify that the IP address and the port number set matches with the IP address and the port number of the syslog server.

    Change to Modify mode. Click Go Security Audit Log Setting in the menu bar of the Remote Web Console main window. The Audit Log Setting window (see Figure 3) displays. When you reach 70% of this threshold, the yellow Audit: Warning button appears on the Remote Web Console main window.
