Managing Failover Packages

Viewing Failover Packages

Note:
All storage in the cluster is controlled by packages. Packages are the smallest units
of failover in the cluster. In other words, if a package resource (storage or
network) fails, the package will be failed over to another node where the storage
can continue to be provided to the clients. Each failover package and its associated
resources are monitored independently. This allows failures that are limited to a
single failover package to be handled without affecting the state of other packages.
To view failover packages:
1. In Command View NAS, click the Storage tab.
2. Navigate to Failover Packages.
A table displays the following information for every failover package:
Failover Package Name
Failover Package Status
Failback Policy
108
Applies to high-availability NAS solutions only.
Column
A string of 40 characters that cannot include spaces,
forward slashes (/), backslashes (\), or asterisks (*).
Identifies the failover package when you view its status
or select an Action.
Displays whether the failover package has started, has
stopped, has failed over, or is inactive.
Note: After you create a high-availability package, its
status may be reported initially as unknown, which
prevents further actions. Click the Refresh icon before
proceeding.
The Failback Policy is used when the failover package is
not running on its primary server even though the
primary server is capable of running the failover
package.
If you set the Failback Policy to Automatic, the
failover package will always attempt to move back
to the primary server.
If you set the Failback Policy to Manual (default), the
failover package will not change servers until you
manually fail it back.
