Alarms Use the Alarms window to view and export critical and warning events for all management
groups you are logged in to. Most alarms require you to take action. See
overview" on page 121.
Events Use the Events node to view, export, and copy all types of events for the current manage-

Hardware Diagnostics Use the Diagnostics category to perform hardware diagnostics, generate
a hardware report, and view log files to configure remote logs for the storage system. The Dia-

Alarms and events overview

The CMC displays the following types of events, based on their severity:
Informational Provides status information about user activities (such as, creating a volume)
and system actions and status (such as, a storage system is up). These types of events do not require
you to take action and are available only from the Events node for each management group.
Warning Provides important information about a system component that may require you to
take action. These types of events are considered to be alarms and are visible in both the Alarms
window (for all management groups) and the Events node (for the management group where the
alarm occurred).
Critical Provides vital information about a system component that requires you to take action.
These types of events are considered to be alarms and are visible in both the Alarms window (for
all management groups) and the Events node (for the management group where the alarm occurred).
The system monitors over 400 different events and can send notification of events using email or
SNMP or both.
NOTE:
Be sure to set up notification of events for each management group. See
overview" on page 129.
