Installing a DIMM

Install a memory module by performing the following steps.
1. Remove the system board to access DIMM sockets.

In a small desktop system, see "Removing the System
Board — Small Desktop."

In a minitower system, see "Removing the System
Board — Minitower."
2. If you need to remove a currently installed memory
module, see "Removing a DIMM."
Before you install a module, reduce static
discharge by touching the system's metal
chassis.
3. Align the new module with an empty memory socket.
Make sure the notches on the module align with the keys
in the socket (see the following figure).
4. Press the module firmly into the socket.
5. Make sure the locking clips at either end of the module
click closed.
6. Replace the system board.
