Upgrade Requirements

Hardware Requirements

CF or PC storage card with the appropriate upgrade files.

NOTE Symbol recommends using a freshly formatted CF/PC card for storing the upgrade files. Format the
CF/PC card using the FAT file system in the host computer, then copy the upgrade files to the CF/PC
card. The upgrade may fail if the CF/PC card contains a corrupt file system.
The MK1200 is equipped with a PCMCIA slot only. This slot is used to connect the Spectrum24 radio card
in MK1200 devices with a wireless facility. You must remove this card before upgrading.
Use a CF card with a CF/PC card adapter.
• ESD mat and equipment required to properly ground the operator.
CAUTION
NOTE The MK Series includes two different platforms and operating files based on operating systems for the
MK1200 (wired) versus the MK1250 (RF).

When removing an access cover, follow proper ESD precautions to avoid damaging sensitive
components. These include, but are not limited to, working on an ESD mat and ensuring that the
operator is properly grounded. Failure to apply proper ESD precautions can damage the MK1200 and
void the warranty.
