The Planmeca ProMax 3D Max X-ray unit uses cone
beam volumetric tomography (CBVT) to produce three-
dimensional X-ray images. The images can be used for
examination of dentomaxillofacial, ear, nose and throat,
as well as other cranial anatomies.
In CBVT a cylindrical volume of data is captured in one
imaging procedure. The data consists of several hundred
images which are taken from different directions and
cover a certain preprogrammed target area. The images
can be viewed in three dimensions in the Planmeca
Romexis imaging program.
The Planmeca ProMax 3D Max X-ray unit offers two
program packages: 3D Dental and 3D ENT (Ear, Nose
and Throat). The program package 3D Dental is included
as standard and the program package 3D ENT is
available as an option.
