Maximizing performance by default

To maximize the performance of your PCIe boards (and in rare cases, their
stability), it is recommended to disable power management for PCIe boards and
your Matrox Supersight. By default, the Matrox Supersight SHB-Q170 BIOS
disables all active state power management (ASPM or equivalent) settings, as well
as the advanced configuration and power interface (ACPI). It is not recommended
to change these settings. Further information is provided in the descriptions of
the associated power management BIOS items.
The BIOS setup utility
The BIOS setup utility allows you to modify certain hardware settings. It is
recommended that you not change the default settings, unless connected devices
require the change (for example, to match the manufacturer-recommended hard
disk or display board settings).
❖ The BIOS setup utility described in this chapter applies to the Matrox Supersight
SHB-Q170 board only.

Entering the BIOS setup utility

To enter the BIOS setup utility, turn on the Matrox Supersight unit and press the
Delete key during power-up self-test (POST) for the SHB. You only have a few
moments to press this key before the boot-up process continues.
