Banknote Jam
on occasion, wrinkled or damaged Banknotes become stuck within the mechanical area
of the Validation Unit. This condition may occur due to acceptance of a severely de-
graded Banknote, or due to a feed error occurring in the Transport Path. Banknote Jams
may be cleared by following instructions found in the Operations and Maintenance

Bezel
a removable Plastic Assembly attached to the front of the Banknote Insertion Slot of the
Validator Unit. It features, a rectangular access slot of easy insertion and retrieval of
Banknotes. Bezels are available in different shapes and sizes in order to accommodate
Banknotes of different width and a different stacking configuration... 1-2

Calibration
a process performed on electronic equipment which ensures that all circuits are proper-
ly aligned and operating at optimum levels. Calibration is accomplished using a soft-
ware based program which checks and sets the operational reference levels for sensors.
This helps to ensure that the Unit operates with the highest Banknote acceptance rate
possible. Calibration is recommended whenever the CPU board, or one of the Sensor
Boards are replaced... 6-1

Cash Box
a container designed to collect and store the Banknotes accepted by the Validator... 1-2

Centering Mechanism
a mechanical assembly designed to center Banknotes that enter the Validator at a
skewed angle... 1-4

Checksum
a numerical value assigned to a data file or block of data (usually expressed in Hexa-
decimal notation). Checksum values are used to verify that the contents of a data file
are not corrupted in any way during transmission or encryption. The Checksum values
of both the original and duplicate files are compared to each other. If the values do not
match then it is recommend that the file be copied (uploaded) again until the Checksum
