Step A12 – Install protective cover on SSR
Locate the clear plastic protective SSR cover provided with your kit. Study the
orientation of the holes in the cover and compare closely with the locations of the screws
on the SSR. Perform a trial fit of the SSR cover, swinging the SSR around on the loosely
fastened post as needed to allow installation of the cover. Once you have the SSR
positioned, go ahead and tighten the 4 mm nut using the recommended deep well 7 mm
socket. Go ahead and fully tighten the SSR terminal screws now if you have not already
done so. Finally, place the plastic protective SSR cover on the SSR.
Next, check and make sure the SSR is properly installed so that there will be
approximately 1/4" clearance between the SSR cover and the splash panel after it is
reinstalled (see photo below for proper location of SSR).
(Some SSR's are shipped from the manufacturer with a protective cover pre-installed. If
your kit includes one of these SSR's, then you will need to remove the cover temporarily
to make the wiring connections, and then re-install it.)
WARNING:
Do not omit the SSR protective cover or you may expose yourself or
others to a lethal shock hazard!
