If the clearance were not over 0.05mm after the check in above
@, loosen the whee! motor @ holding two screws (B1) with the
phillips screwdriver
and
the
printwheel
wrench
(UKOG-
5013BCZZ). Shift the wheel motor @ slightly in the direction (C)
or (D). Make adjustment all over again from Step @ so that it
should be in the range of A. Tighten two screws to complete the
adjustment.
If adjustment was not possible even if the wheel motor @ is
moved in the arrow direction (C) or (D), do the following adjust-
ment.
Primary adjustment (not needed if steps @ to @ have been
complete)
1) Remove the motor plate unit in reference to Paragraph 8-4,
@® to ©. Keep the wheel motor connector @ and the car-
riage unit @ cable to remain connected.
Remove the E-ring (#1).
Hold the motor plate ® with the side (F) facing up. (Push the

From the left side of the mechanical unit, unfasten the car-
riage home position sensor 2-pin connector (CN3) that con-
nected to the main contro! PWB with such as a pin in order to
allow manual movement of the carriage home position sen-
sor after power on.
6)
Turn the power on.
the printwheel starts to rotate to sense the wheel home posi-
tion. Release your finger from the wheel lever @ after the
wheel position has been sensed.
In order to decrease the clearance between the top end of
the hammer @ and the printwheel underline V location, pull
out the wheel gear © in the arrow direction (I), with care not
to move the pinion gear @ of the wheel motor. Move the
wheel gear one tooth in the arrow direction (J) or (K) and
push in the wheel gear @ so that it should engage with the
pinion gear @.
Al though the wheel motor is locked while the power is on,
the pinion gear may be likely to move if forced because it is
not locked firmly, So, pay attention not to move the pinion
gear @. If moved, turn power off and do the adjustment all
over again from Step 1).
When Step 7) has been completed, replace the E-ring (E1)
and turn the power off.
With the above procedure, the primary adjustment has been
complete. In order to confirm, do Step 6) once again to check
that the clearance is now less (within a fine adjustment
Tange) between the printwheel underline V locator and the
hammer slit, You may now proceed to do the fine adjustment.
