9. Maintain tension and tighten the adjustment nut (1) to 15 to 18 ft·lb (20 to 24.5 N·m). Tighten the pivot nuts (2) to
20 to 25 ft·lb (27 to 34 N·m) (Figure 19-23, Page 19-18).

10. Remove the belt tension tool.
11. Confirm proper belt tension with a final measurement.
12. Connect the spark plug wire.

BELT TENSION TOOL MODIFICATION

1. Remove the nut and J-bolt from the bracket.
2. Grind or cut 3/8 to 1/2 inch (9.5 to 12.7 mm) (A) from bracket as shown to increase the effective length of
the J-bolt (Figure 19-24, Page 19-18).

3. Install the J-bolt and nut into the bracket.
