You must save the file to be used at the next device boot in the root directory of the
device. You can copy or move a file to change the path of it to the root directory.
To execute the boot-loader command successfully, save the file to be used at the next
device boot in the root directory of the storage media on the AMB (On the
SR6604/6608/6616 router)
The names of the files for the next boot of the AMB and the SMB may be different, but
the versions of the files must be the same; otherwise, the device may not boot normally.

Upgrading the Boot File for the SMB

If the newly inserted SMB has different version from the existing AMB, the SMB cannot
operate normally and the active and standby switchover fails. In this case, if the state of the
SMB is normal (which you can display with the display device command), you can use this
feature to upgrade the SMB quickly to make the SMB and AMB have the same version. If
the state of the SMB is faulty, you need to plug out the SMB and upgrade it.
The device performs the following steps with this function enabled:
1) Copy the current boot file of the AMB to the SMB
2) Specify this boot file as the boot file to be used at the next device boot for the SMB (If
the device supports both the main and the backup files to be used at the next device
boot, this function upgrades the main boot file for the SMB.)
3) The SMB reboots automatically and the upgrade of the SMB is completed. Then, the
SMB and the AMB have the same version.
Follow the step below to upgrade the boot file for the SMB:
