RELAYS

The SH5000 includes two Omron G2R-1-SND-5VDC relays. Contact Redback for
assistance to install up to two additional relays (4 in total) using RK-1 Relay Kits.
Each relay enables the programmed or remote control of one connected circuit
and attached devices: for example, pumps can be scheduled to run during
daylight hours, consuming excess solar power.
Relays may be software configured Normally OFF or Normally ON. Setup,
schedule, and control relays as described in Section 3.7.
Loads up to 10A@240V AC
Connect the load directly as shown right.
During installation, in the RedbackINSTALL app, rename the relay to
include its default state e.g., HWS Normally OFF, and set the default
state to match—changing the default state will change the
scheduling from ON/OFF to OFF/ON.
Loads over 10A@240V AC
Loads over 10A@240v AC must be controlled using a secondary
contactor (installer to supply).
At the secondary contactor, mechanically configure or select the
contactor to be Normally ON or Normally OFF as required. This will
ensure the relay returns to the normal state if the inverter is off.
Connect the relay as shown right.
In the app, configure the relay to match the secondary relay i.e.,
Normally OFF or Normally ON.
Set the schedules as required.

Battery enclosure connections (if fitted)

The enclosure is pre-wired with leads for up to four batteries.
The external leads pass via waterproof glands and are
terminated with Amphenol Surlock connectors.
The Battery Management System (BMS) "Fan Controller to
BoS" cable is pre-fitted to the enclosure. It passes from the
enclosure to the BoS via a waterproof gland and is fitted with
a waterproof cap at the BoS end.
Plug the BMS cable into the BMS port as shown.
Tighten the waterproof cap.
Connect battery power cables to the BoS as
shown.
Attach earth cable as shown.
Check all glands on the top of the battery
enclosure. Tighten as required.
Check that the BMS cable is plugged into the Fan
Controller "Ouija" Port (inside the enclosure).
