NON-STANDARD INSTALLATION

The Redback SH5000 inverter connects to a single-phase only but can operate effectively in a two- or three-phase environment,
or AC-Coupled to an existing grid connected inverter.
TWO OR THREE PHASE ENVIRONMENTS
A SM3000 Energy Meter is required to monitor multiple phases — informing the inverter of total grid consumption— and
enabling the inverter to deploy self-generated energy as required. The SM3000 aggregates energy data from each phase and
reports the net energy flow and the inverter manages energy accordingly.
To install the inverter in a multi-phase environment
Install the inverter as described in the preceding sections. The inverter and CT "1" must be on the same phase.
Connect the SM3000 Energy Meter as described in section 2.7.
Example: Compensatory export in a 3-phase installation
In this situation the self-generated energy offsets grid consumption.

AC-COUPLED ENVIRONMENT
The SM3000 monitors the activity of the grid-connected inverter enabling
battery charging from that inverter, or export from the Redback to the grid in
accordance with the site's allowable Export Power Limit.
Example: Battery charging in an AC-Coupled environment
In this example the intent is to obtain the greatest economic benefit from the
battery.
The SM3000 informs the Redback that the grid-connected inverter is exporting
energy to the grid (possibly at a low export tariff). The Redback inverter diverts
power to charge the battery as quickly as possible for later use (when a high
import tariff applies). When the battery is fully charged, excess energy can be
exported (up to the site export power limit).
To install the inverter in an AC-Coupled configuration
Install the inverter as described in the preceding sections.
Connect the SM3000 Energy Meter as described in section 2.7. CTs must be attached exactly as shown in section 0.
Using RedbackINSTALL, configure the installation as AC-Coupled.
