Hardware options installation
Introduction
Install any hardware options before initializing the server. If multiple options are being installed, read the installation
instructions for all the hardware options to identify similar steps and streamline the installation process.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives and the internal system
components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to electrical components, properly ground the server before beginning any
installation procedure. Improper grounding can cause electrostatic discharge.
Rack rail option
Installing the rack rails
The rack rails can be installed in both round-hole or square-hole racks. In this procedure, left and right terminology is from
the perspective of a user facing the front of the rack.
The illustrations used in this procedure show an icon on the upper right corner of the image. This icon indicates whether
the action illustrated in the image is for both round- or square-hole racks, or for either.

Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have a T-25 Torx screwdriver available.
Procedure

Locate the orientation markers on the mounting rails:

The front end of the rails is marked FRONT.
The middle of the rails is marked with LEFT and RIGHT.
