The intention of the bore hole
Ideally, neither oil nor contamination should get into the transducer. For
displacement probes, this is ensured by the construction, as there is very little
play in the front slide bearing. Plungers with a 90° electrical connection outlet
have a through bore at the end (core hole). Both the pressure-resistant
versions also have a side bore (transverse hole), as here the bore is prescribed
by the technology, and it is not possible to have a hole at the end. The bore
hole is not essential for standard, industrial applications. But it is useful if the
contamination is more severe. There can also be special applications (rapid
pressure variance), for which it is useful to have a ventilation hole.
