Removing a CSC

To remove a CSC from the router, perform the following steps.

strap and make sure that it makes ample contact with your skin. Insert the equipment end
of the wrist strap (the banana jack) into the ESD socket in the lower left corner of the upper
card cage.

At the conclusion of this procedure, you must either install a replacement CSC or a blank
filler panel to maintain the integrity of the router enclosure. Doing so is essential to
maintain the proper flow of cooling air through the router and to ensure EMI compliance.
Before accessing any of the router's internal components, put on an antistatic wrist
Loosen the two captive installation screws beneath the card ejector levers at the
top and bottom of the card (see Figure 7-18).
Grasp the ejector levers and pull them away from the card faceplate to unseat the
card from the backplane (see Figure 7-18).
Touching only the ejector levers or the metal card carrier proper, slide the card
out of the slot and store it in an antistatic bag or in an antistatic card rack (see
Figure 7-18).
If you intend to return the card for repair or replacement, leave the card in its
antistatic bag and prepare a return package for shipment.
