To verify that the new (or reinstalled) RP is functioning properly, perform the following

Procedures for removing and replacing line cards are described in conjunction with the
memory upgrade procedures presented in the section entitled "Upgrading Memory on a
Line Card."

Removing and Replacing Switch Cards

This section presents the procedures for removing, installing, and verifying the installation
of the CSC and the SFC.
Note
can remove and replace a redundant CSC or any of the SFCs without powering down the
system. If you do not have redundant CSCs in your router (that is, your router is equipped
with a single CSC), you must power down the system before removing the CSC card.

Verify the following conditions:
The RP is fully seated and its two captive installation screws are tightened.
The RP interface cables are connected and secure.
Any Flash memory cards removed from the old RP are reinstalled in the new
RP.
Ensure that a console terminal is connected to the console port on the RP and
that the console is turned on, or that you are able to accomplish a remote login
to the router from another host in the network by means of a telnet session.
Check the startup banner and displays to ensure that the system restarts properly
and that all the router interfaces reinitialize in the proper state.
