Engine identification plates

■ Identification plate, engine designation and engine serial number
■ The identification plate is located on the valve cover of the en-
gine.
■ The Caterpillar engines are identified by the engine designa-
tion and engine serial number. The Caterpillar service support
point requires these numbers to determine which components
have been used for the engine. The spare part numbers can
thus be determined precisely.
The engine identification plate contains the following information:
