Site Preparation Instructions
Compressed Air - A supply of clean, dry compressed air is required for the test gas. The supply pressure
6.
must be between 72 and 100 psig (5 to 6.9 Bar) at a maximum flow rate of 0.88 CFM (25 LPM). The
compressed air purity must meet or exceed ISO 8753-1:2010 [1:3:1]. In order to meet the requirements of
this purity standard, a sub-micron filter. A membrane dryer and a carbon filter may be needed.
7.
COMPRESSED AIR REGULATOR - A compressed air regulator is not supplied with the instrument. A
suitable regulator can be purchased through a local compressed air equipment supplier.
COMPRESSED AIR SUPPLY TUBING - Tubing to connect the compressed air supply to the instrument is
8.
not provided. Suitable tubing (and fittings) can be purchased through a local compressed air equipment
supplier. The compressed air inlet on the instrument back panel has a 1/4 NPT quick disconnect fitting
installed at the factory. A 1/4-18 NPT to 1/4-19 BSPP adapter is also supplied with the instrument.
CARRIER GAS - The required carrier gas is nitrogen (99.7% pure or better). This mixture is readily
9.
available from gas suppliers for a nominal charge in most principal cities. A standard "T" size cylinder
typically provide
model.
10.
CARRIER GAS N2 CYLINDER REGULATOR ASSEMBLY - MOCON recommends the optional cylinder
regulator assembly that is configured specifically for this application. A two-stage tank regulator can be
purchased separately but must be adapted to mate with the N2 Cylinder (Tank fittings vary from country to
country and may need to be adapted) to be used with the Carrier Gas supply tubing listed below.
If the customer chooses to purchase the optional regulator assembly, then the gas cylinder is the only
item that must be supplied by the customer. The regulator assembly contains everything else that is
needed.
11.
CARRIER GAS SUPPLY TUBING - Metallic tubing is required for connecting the carrier gas supply to the
rear panel of the instrument. Desiccated and sealed (D&S), refrigeration-grade copper tubing (1/8 OD x
0.030 Wall / 3.175 mm OD x 0.762 mm) is required. This tubing can be purchased through MOCON by
calling MOCON in the USA at (763) 493-6370, or through your local tubing supplier.
12.
WATER REQUIREMENTS - For Test Gas RH generation standard distilled water can be used. The
reservoir capacity is approximately 5 Gallons (19 Liters). Water consumption for Test Gas RH generation
is approximately 7 Lt/month or 2 gallons/month at 37.8 °C and 90% RH. The tank of distilled water
should be below the bottom of the instrument. Best spot is on the lab floor. The reclaiming tube
should also go into tank. The reclaiming tube should always go down hill from the instrument to
the tank and should never go below the tank water line. Warning if you don't follow this setup the
water could back up into the instrument and prevent you from generating the proper RH.
