APPROACH MODE OPERATION
When an approach profile has been selected, an automatic "APPROACH ENABLE?" message
will be displayed at 30 NM from the Destination Airport. In the event the approach is activated
inside of the terminal area, the message will be displayed immediately. If not enabled, the
message will be repeated at a distance of 3 NM from the Final Approach Fix (FAF). Once
within a 30 NM area of the destination the approach enable message can be viewed by pressing
MSG.
The approach sequence will be as follows:
When within 30 nm of departure or destination airport, the FreeFlight 2101
I/O Approach Plus is operating in terminal mode, CDI scaling is
scale.

To enable the approach sequence the pilot must enter the BARO setting using
the standard input procedures and pressing the ENT key
Only one approach can be in the flight plan at one time. The Approach data
cannot be altered, added to or deleted from the approach procedure
contained in the data base. The data base may contain some waypoints which
do not appear on the terminal approach procedures.
Parallel offsets are not allowed when the approach mode is enabled.

To disable the approach, select "-D>" to a non approach waypoint, or press
MSG key until the Approach Enable message is displayed then press ENT and
use the large outer knob to place the cursor over the ENABLE word and the
small knob to DISABLE, then press ENT.

Waypoints will be flown in sequence as recalled from the data base. Waypoint
arrival and track change will be annunciated prior to all intermediate waypoints
from the Initial Approach Fix (IAF) to the FAF.
If the desired Track inbound to the Final Approach Fix is not within 70
final approach course (FAF to MAP) when sequenced to the FAF, the Trimble
2101 I/O Approach Plus will automatically place the unit in HOLD mode
(HLD) at or abeam the FAF and prompt the pilot to enter the outbound
course from the FAF. Once the outbound turn has been executed and the
FAA Approved
