Sub-Menu

A Sub-Menu provides a number of functions used for changing Tester setup parameters,
saving and replacing programs to disk, and formatting diskettes. Since these functions are not
frequently used, they are placed in the sub-menu.
To select the Setup Sub-Menu, press the arrow keys until SUB-MENU is displayed and press
MENU RUN. The first sub-menu selection is then displayed. To exit the Sub-Menu, press
RESET.

Self Test

This mode is used to test the Model 4000C. Basically it checks for opens and shorts on the
scanner transmit and receive lines (Scanner Modules). If any opens or shorts are found, an
error message is displayed. No test harness or fixture should be connected to the unit during
Self Test; shorts in the test harness would be displayed as shorts in the tester.
To select and execute Self Test press the up or down arrow to step through the menu to
display SELF TEST; Press Menu-Run. The display will read Self Test followed by a number.
This number is the software version number. The Control Head display will now display
either one number or three. If one number appears, and this number is equal to the total
number of points in the system, the unit has passed its self test. If one number appears and
this number is not equal to the total number of points in the system, the unit has found an
open internal test point (probably on the scanner board). The unit has then failed Self Test
and the number displayed indicated the maximum number of points that may be used in the
system without errors. If three numbers appear, the system has located a short. The first two
numbers are the FROM and TO points of the short. The third number indicates the maximum
number of points that may be used in the system without errors. The short could be a failed
scanner board corresponding to the short displayed. This error can also be an addressing
failure in the control circuits of the Scanner Control Board. If the failure cannot be isolated to
a scanner board, by moving the board to a different slot or removing the board and running
Self Test, then the Model 4000C should be returned for service.
