scanner board). The unit has then failed Self Test and the number displayed indicates the
maximum number of points that may be used in the system without errors. If three

unit has found a short between these two points in the system (probably on the Scanner
Boards). The third number indicates the maximum number of points that may be used in
the system without errors.
No test Harness may be connected during the Self Test procedure.

PRINTER SETUP

A RS-232C port is provided on the rear panel to accommodate an 80-column serial printer.
This DB-25 connector is labeled PRINTER.
1. Prepare printer for use and connect it to its proper power source, in accordance with the
printer manufacturer's manual.
2. Connect printer interface cable (5210791) to the PRINTER connector on the rear panel of
the Model 4000C.
3. Turn printer power switch ON, and press SELECT switch so that the select light on the
printer is lit.
4. Set the Model 4000C power switch to ON.
5. Test the printer by pressing ERROR LIST on the Model 4000C.

Data Format

If the printer was not purchased from Cablescan, the following setup data are required:
Transmission to the printer is at 1200 Baud, with 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity. A logic
low on the Clear-to-Send pin 11 enables data communication and a logic high on pin 11 inhibits
the Model 4000C from sending more data; the printer sets pin 11 low to re-enable printing.

Printer Cable

The printer connector on the Model 4000C is also used for external control signals that are not
printer related. Therefore, a fully loaded 25-pin printer cable should not be used. The pin
assignments for the printer are as follows:
