About the Dictionary
The typeface (called font hereafter) of the characters to be read are "registered" and
"learned" in the dictionaries. Character Recognition Checker reads the characters
based on these dictionaries. Character recognition type A230 has five dictionaries that
can only be used for the character recognition function and up to 40 characters can be
registered in each. OCR−B font is registered in the Dictionary No. 1 and OCR−A font
in the Dictionary No.2 at shipping from the factory. (User−setting is available for all
dictionaries.)
Learning is done after the registration of the extracted letters or symbols (the labeling).
Learning is required each time the content of a dictionary is changed. (The A230 has
an "additional learning" function by which only the changed parts of a dictionary is
re−learned.)
