MACHINE SET-UP

4�7�1 GRAPPLE AND TRAILER
Follow this procedure to prepare and set-up all LXT models at the work site.
Use the tow vehicle to position the grapple and trailer at
the work site.
IMPORTANT
Position the machine so the prevailing wind/
breeze blows the exhaust gases/fumes away
from the operator's station�
1. Check for leaks or damage to the engine, all
hoses and hydraulic components. Repair as
required.
2. The machine is designed to be used while
attached to the tow vehicle. The log trailer
requires the stability of the tow vehicle while
lifting or winching heavy loads. Do not operate
if not attached to the tow vehicle.
3. Connect the grapple hydraulic hoses to the
tractor hydraulics, (check valve in grapple
hydraulics to prevent incorrect connection) set
the tractor hydraulic control in detent, or start
the engine on the power pack. (review engine

4. Lower the stabilizer legs so that they are firmly
placed on the ground.
5. Lower the trailer jack for extra stability.
6. Determine your work area / landing zone and
position the control panel so the operator is
opposite the landing zone, (facing the work
area)
7. Remove the boom lock pin.
8. Check all functions of the hydraulic system
before beginning work.
