3. Carefully check the four corners of the socket cover to ensure that the cover is secured.

Replacing the cover presence switch

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Safety information" on page 1.
This section provides instructions on how to replace the cover presence switch, which is also known as
intrusion switch.
To replace the cover presence switch, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 153.
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Removing and reinstalling the front bezel" on page 154
4. Locate the cover presence switch. See "Locating major FRUs and CRUs" on page 79.
5. Disconnect the cover presence switch cable from the cover presence switch connectors on the system
board.
6. Press the clip

as shown and lift the cover presence switch up to remove it from the chassis.
